RESCUE
|
ATRHC works with shelters, Humane Societies, and some private owners with
dogs that have special needs. The special needs range from physical abuse to
health issues. Our goal is to rehabilitate these dogs back to an adoptable
state and find them permanent homes.
ATRHC's process of rescue involves the following:
Phone interview with shelter, clinic, or private party to see if dog meets criteria.
(Criteria is that it has been abused, neglected, has behavior problems,
or skin problems.)
Meet in person to interview again and evaluate the dog.
If it is a surrender, they sign an agreement and make a donation for the dogs
care and sign off the vet records.
If it is an adoption they have to bring all the family members to the interview
and other dog(s) living in their home. The decision to accept a dog is based on
the answers in the interview to: the questions, their body language, and their interaction with the dog.
If all the criteria is met and the adoption proceeds forward then the adopters
sign an adoption agreement and pay an adoption fee. ATRHC does do a premise check prior
to the adoption.
