Rusty

"Rusty"
4 years - Male - Vizsla, Purebred - 58 pounds. Rusty was an owner surrender to us.  He is protective of his family as any Vizsla should be - he has had 4 biting incidents through the fence.   He is an obedient guy but has some quirks.  He does not like being startled awake, kicked at or swatted at.   These have been problems for him in the past where he has learned to show aggression. He needs a single owner with no children and no contact with children.   With his given history we where sure since we are on acreage that he would give us trouble at the front gate - he has only been here a week, but has shown no aggression with any of our visitors.   We will continue to bait Rusty for bad behaviors and redirect them as we see them, but so far he is just a normal Vizsla.

Update 7/10/04
Rusty is doing very well.   He is a very loving dog - wants to be with you almost always.   He has not started playing with the other dogs, but does pal around with a few of the smaller ones.  He is very helpful with the daily chores.  He is very obedient and smart.   He knows all of his basic commands which his previous owners taught him, he always does the command asked of him on the 1st try.   He is very eager to please and of course even more eager when treats are involved.   He is horrible about crates so we are looking for someone who will not use a crate at all - he is just simply way to protective of it when he is in it and gets highly agitated when you reach in or he does not want to come out and you want him to come out.   He is perfectly behaved without a crate so there is no need for one.  He is a very good boy.
