Jackson

"Jackson"
Male - 1 1/2 years - Corgi/Lhasa Mix - Grey/White - 40 pounds. Jackson came to us by owner surrender.   Jackson belonged to an elderly man who lived as a recluse - Jackson had never been touched by any other human prior to coming to rescue.  He is making great progress.   He is very interested in what I am doing all the time and follows me all around.   He will sit next to me and let me pet him, but he will not let you touch him if you go straight for his face or body.   He needs to be the initiator.   He needs someone who will go slow with him and give him some time to settle in.   He is house trained.  He does not know any basic commands, we are simply working in handling.   He lets us bath him and brush him.   He is learning to walk on a leash.  The big thing you have to remember with this guy is he has never been exposed to the outside world away from the elderly man who owned him.   So everything is brand new to him.  He is curious and trainable, just needs a gentle hand.

Update 5/14/04
Jackson has turned in to my most favorite guy.  He is very loving and happy.   He has no fear of humans any more and comes readily when called.  He loves to sit on your lap and cuddle and would love nothing more to be your head warmer at night.   I worried about Jackson being flightly with the move to the acreage but he has totally spread his wings - he runs all out playing with the other dogs, he is bringing toys back to be tossed again and again.  He is such a neat dog.
